My dad and I go here often, always just us. My dad gets off work and I leave school when I have early admission. Best BLT I've ever had, chicken salad sandwich is also amazing! I only have positive things to say about this place. Before they decided to Co-Operate and we thought they were closing I almost started crying because I've never been to a cafe like that. Five stars for everything, perfect place to write, study, and chat. Wish it was open until at least four but as long as they're open and I have my BLT and chat with my dad I'm happy to be at one of the best cafes in Hamden!

Visited Common Ground with a few friends for a lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. I ordered the Hampden Special, a combination of 2 eggs, a mayo aioli sauce, and some lettuce to balance it out. It's usually put on ciabatta, but you can ask for it on a bagel. The bagels were great, although a little on the small side. The sandwich worked really well. I also got an iced coffee which was average.
The absolute highlight of our trip were the muffins. We ordered a chocolate muffin (gluten-free) and a snickerdoodle muffin (gluten-free and vegan) as well. The snickerdoodle was THE most moist muffin I've ever had in my life. It sort of melted and condensed in my mouth. If you visit, please get a muffin!

A PTO day took me and my Love out on a morning date. We grabbed a couple lattes and strolled The Avenue. We sipped on a Chai Latte and Masala Chai and both were delicious!! The vibe inside was chill, inclusive, welcoming, and fun.
Service was quick and friendly. Outdoor seating is available and the day we went, the weather was gorgeous so being outside enjoying the space was mandatory.
Every pastry looked delicious and next time, we will grab a few. Probably a sandwich too.
I’m looking forward to going back again soon!

I am writing this review while enjoying bites of a very tasty sandwich that I just ordered from this place so I am completely under its influence.
I easily found a parking spot in front of the restaurant which made it a perfect start.
I’ve never been to their old location but this new is really good with outdoor and indoor seating areas where you can bring your book or laptop and enjoy your food and coffee while doing what you want to do.
The staff were all friendly and kind, Emma was so professional in taking my order and recommending things that I should add to my sandwich which I found it very helpful, they were busy but the managed to my coffee served in a very short time and the sandwich followed after few more minutes.
I remember loved this place and I will definitely stop here again & You too, give it a try and I am sure you will love the experience.
Gives me a thumbs up if you found this helpful and follow me to explore more places around the DMV.

Small cafe with eclectic cozy vibes.
We didn’t have coffee but ordered the BLT sandwich, which came with chipotle mayo and a chimichurri sauce. Wow wow wow - I’d come back just for this sandwich. Literally a perfect BLT and the combo of sauces really just took it to the next level. Loved it!
The inside is small and we waited for a table. Parking is street parking.

If a struggling artist were to receive $15 to treat themselves, where do they go?
The place that has generous portions? The place with good vibes and warm, genuine people? The place with great muffins and palate-pleasing coffee drinks? The place where a genuine meetup with a friend, a creative flow session, or a community gathering on the sunny patio are all encouraged?
No need to make the distinction with Common Grounds - it fits the bill! From monthly specialty drinks like the Rose Kiss to the wonderful *and huge* vegan muffins, the lovely folks at Common Grounds are doing it right. Did I mention C.G. is a worker-owned hub? So, community is a big part of what they're about, which translates to the artistic crowd, the retired, the pet parent, the community activists, and the family all being welcomed equally.
And they open earlier than most spots! So, to my early-risers, welcome home!

Wonderful little co-op with great service and very kind employees. Their matcha lemonade was delicious, and their sandwiches are lovely. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Love the local art for sale and the free little library inside too.

Wonderful coop cafe! Egg & cheese bagel was sooo tasty & fresh. Coffee & service were great. Enjoyed the vibe, worked at one of the tables for a while with light chatter around & artwork on the walls. Perfect neighborhood coffee shop.
Edit: came here to add that all of their food & drinks are tasty & made with flavorful, fresh ingredients. Seasonal lavender lemonade (with thyme if I remember correctly?) was divine!

Even though a small cafe, their food sets it off in a big way. The menu consists of breakfast, sandwiches, smoothies and chilled coffee drinks. My visit my party and i chose sandwiches and they did not disappoint. Their very unique sandwich names like The Elm, the Falls and the BLT was delish. Smoothies were good too!! Service was quick, and you had the choice of indoor or outdoor dining. If in the area, try them out.

Common Ground Cafe Cooperative is one of my favorite neighborhood businesses. Their drinks and food are great and they have the most friendly group of people working there. I especially love how they are community minded, welcoming to everyone, and offer resources and help to those who need it. Love this place!
